This general construction background enables Sevenson to look at a particular site remediation project from a practical, operations-oriented point of view. This often leads to ideas for cost savings through modest changes in the project plan which can yield significant results. As a hands-on contractor, Sevenson prefers the greater operational control of performing a project with its own forces as opposed to using subcontractors. Consistent with this policy, Sevenson owns and maintains its own fleet of traditional and specialty construction and marine equipment.
Excavation and earthwork are core services at Sevenson.
Sevenson has a long history of providing excavation and earthwork services, starting with site remediation projects that involved excavation, waste characterization, and disposal. Over the years, we’ve safely managed millions of tons of hazardous and non-hazardous materials, supporting the construction of Western New York’s infrastructure. As remediation projects grew in complexity, Sevenson expanded its capabilities to include advanced civil construction techniques like steel sheeting, shoring systems, and landfill construction. Today, Sevenson continues to deliver expert excavation and earthwork services for a wide range of projects, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Sevenson’s demolition work began with small-scale commercial and industrial projects around Niagara Falls, NY, before expanding internationally in 1973 when we were awarded a contract to decontaminate, demolish, and dispose of dangerous structures in Managua, Nicaragua, following a major earthquake. We completed this work until 1979, demolishing hundreds of structures. Since then, Sevenson has completed hundreds of decontamination and demolition projects across the U.S., often linked to larger remediation efforts. Our work includes demolishing and abating hazardous materials such as asbestos and lead paint, cleaning and removing industrial equipment, and managing radiologically-contaminated sites, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations throughout.
Working with clients to implement remediation services at homes and commercial buildings in urban, suburban, and rural communities
Sevenson specializes in residential remediation, with extensive experience in working closely with homeowners and residents. We understand the importance of effective community relations and communication among all stakeholders: including government agencies, community leaders, and residents to ensure a successful project. Our team works with clients to develop and implement clear communication plans, helping projects stay on schedule and within budget. Additionally, we prioritize site restoration, ensuring that impacted neighborhoods are returned to pre-existing conditions with clean backfill, landscaping, utility replacement, and other restorative work. Sevenson has successfully remediated over 2,000 residential properties, improving each site upon completion.
Experienced using a variety of reagents to meet treatment requirements
For over 40 years, Sevenson has been a trusted provider of solidification and stabilization services, delivering remediation work at former Superfund sites, manufactured gas plants (MGPs), and contaminated waterways across the U.S. We specialize in both in-situ and ex-situ solidification and stabilization using advanced equipment like excavators, pugmills, and rotary mixing units. Our fleet includes state-of-the-art drilling rigs and automated mixing systems, enabling us to efficiently perform complex projects, including drilling up to 140 feet below ground. Sevenson also conducts in-house treatability studies at our cutting-edge environmental lab to ensure our treatment methods meet project objectives.
Successfully executing remediation projects for public utilities since 1996
Sevenson specializes in safely and effectively executing large-scale MGP remediation projects, both on land and impacted waterways. Our field crews have extensive experience managing hazardous MGP contaminants like coal tar, PAHs, BTEX, VOCs, and SVOCs. Our services include deep excavation, dredging, in-situ soil stabilization, excavation support systems, wastewater treatment, waste handling, and odor control. We work with a diverse range of utility clients across the U.S., from small regional companies to large, multi-state utilities, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant remediation.
Sevenson specializes in installing sheet pile and shoring systems tailored to site conditions for various applications, such as excavation support, groundwater control, Confined Disposal Facility construction, sediment removal, and cut-off walls to prevent contaminant migration. We use a range of pile driving methods, including vibratory and impact hammers, and the Giken Silent Piler for vibration-sensitive sites. Sevenson also developed the patented SEAL Wall System, a low-permeability cut-off wall using commercially available sheet piling. Our expertise includes installing steel sheet piling, H and I-beam shoring, secant pile walls, timber lagging, and more, to meet diverse project needs.
