Architect Albert Elia of Niagara Falls, New York, founded a general construction business.

Albert Elia’s four sons joined and incorporated the business as the Albert Elia Building Company, Inc. It grew to become one of New York State’s largest general contractors.

Awarded our first remedial action project for a potentially responsible party (PRP) lead cleanup operation at the Velsicol Chemical Superfund Site, St. Louis, Michigan.

Changed Name to Sevenson Environmental Services, Inc.
Changed Name to Sevenson Environmental Services, Inc.

To reflect the company’s transition to a full-service environmental cleanup contractor, the company’s name was changed to Sevenson Environmental Services, Inc., as the third generation of the Elia family acquired the business from their fathers.

Sevenson Awarded its First Remedial Action Contract by US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)

Awarded first remedial action contract issued by USACE at Krysowaty Farm Superfund Site, Hillsborough Township, New Jersey. Since then, Sevenson has successfully executed hundreds of fixed-price and cost-reimbursable contracts and task orders at over 40 USACE-managed Superfund sites.

Sevenson Introduces Bio-Remediation as a New Service

Sevenson acquires the laboratory, technology and equipment of start-up bio-remediation firm, Waste Stream Technology. Lab capabilities are later broadened to include stabilization/solidification and dewatering treatability studies.

Sevenson opens office in Merrillville, Indiana, after acquiring technology and assets of Maecorp, a Chicago-based remedial action contractor which provided chemical treatment services using the proprietary MAECTITE™ process.

Sevenson awarded first USEPA Region 2 Long-Term Remedial Action Contract (LTRA) from USACE. Objectives included providing O&M and optimization services at permanent waste water treatment plants at Superfund sites managed by USACE on behalf of USEPA.

Requested to respond to Time Critical Remedial Action at the Emory River Coal Ash Recovery site in Kingston, Tennessee, where Sevenson hydraulically dredged and processed 2.5 million CY of fly ash over 22 months.

The equipment, manufactured by BAUER Gruppe GmbH, includes multiple premium Line rotary drilling rigs and Containerized Mixing Systems (CMS).
