The Matteo & Sons, Inc. (Matteo) Superfund Site is currently divided into three Operable Units (OUs) – OU1, OU2 and OU3. OU2 consists of residential properties in a residential development on Crown Point Road, Woodlane Drive, Birchly Court and Oakmont Court. The work entails the excavation of battery causing waste materials and contaminated soils to eliminate exposure of contaminates through various pathways as well as to eliminate the threat of physical migration of contaminants. COCs include lead, PCBs, and antimony.
As the self-performing prime contractor, Sevenson excavated 8,149 CY of contaminated material at 25 residential properties ranging from 6 in.–7 ft. BGS utilizing precision excavation in constrained areas. Sevenson utilized our proprietary MAECTITE™ treatment process to provide a cost savings to USACE. Crews managed transportation and disposal of all contaminated material while saving USACE in T&D expenditures. An open line of communication between Sevenson, the client, and multiple property owners on a daily basis occurred in order for remediation activities to progress.
