Architect Albert Elia of Niagara Falls, New York, founded a general construction business.
Albert Elia’s four sons joined and incorporated the business as the Albert Elia Building Company, Inc. It grew to become one of New York State’s largest general contractors.
Albert Elia Building Co., Inc., constructed a commercial hazardous waste landfill cell for SCA Services, Inc.
Elia receives subcontract to perform containment construction for Love Canal’s Central and Northern Sectors.
New York State Department of Environmental Conservation awards Albert Elia Building Co., Inc., Design/Build contract for constructing the Love Canal leachate treatment unit, the first permanent treatment facility built at a Superfund site.
Awarded our first remedial action project for a potentially responsible party (PRP) lead cleanup operation at the Velsicol Chemical Superfund Site, St. Louis, Michigan.
To reflect the company’s transition to a full-service environmental cleanup contractor, the company’s name was changed to Sevenson Environmental Services, Inc., as the third generation of the Elia family acquired the business from their fathers.
Awarded first remedial action contract issued by USACE at Krysowaty Farm Superfund Site, Hillsborough Township, New Jersey. Since then, Sevenson has successfully executed hundreds of fixed-price and cost-reimbursable contracts and task orders at over 40 USACE-managed Superfund sites.
Sevenson awarded its first contract for radiological remediation under the Formally Utilized Site Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP) at the Lake Ontario Ordnance Works Site, Lewiston, New York.
Sevenson acquires the laboratory, technology and equipment of start-up bio-remediation firm, Waste Stream Technology. Lab capabilities are later broadened to include stabilization/solidification and dewatering treatability studies.
Sevenson opens office in Merrillville, Indiana, after acquiring technology and assets of Maecorp, a Chicago-based remedial action contractor which provided chemical treatment services using the proprietary MAECTITE™ process.
Sevenson awarded first of USACE’s Pre-placed Remedial Action Contracts (PRACs) for USEPA Region 2. PRAC’s objective was to expedite remediation of Superfund sites under federal government lead where no viable responsible parties were identified.
Sevenson purchases its first hydraulic dredge. Commits to addressing sediment dredging material handling and processing issues unique to this emerging field.
Sevenson successfully completes first remediation project at a former manufactured gas plant (MGP) site. Sevenson has since completed MGP site remediation projects for numerous public utility companies.
Sevenson awarded first USEPA Region 2 Long-Term Remedial Action Contract (LTRA) from USACE. Objectives included providing O&M and optimization services at permanent waste water treatment plants at Superfund sites managed by USACE on behalf of USEPA.
Sevenson awarded its first Design/Build contract at a US Department of Energy facility, the Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Boneyard Burnyard Site, Tennessee.
Requested to respond to Time Critical Remedial Action at the Emory River Coal Ash Recovery site in Kingston, Tennessee, where Sevenson hydraulically dredged and processed 2.5 million CY of fly ash over 22 months.
As a key team member, Sevenson performs all dredging, dewatering, and material processing services under the USEPA’s first Great Lakes National Program Office remediation contract
To date, Sevenson has successfully completed over 1,500 projects throughout the US and Canada, including remedial action at 143 Superfund sites. Focus remains on providing best-in-class remediation services to industry, PRP groups, and public agencies.
Sevenson was awarded a $240M MACRAC IDIQ contract for environmental remediation services for projects at various locations.
Sevenson has added a fleet of state-of-the-art ISS resources to the company’s inventory of heavy civil and marine construction, excavation, and dredging equipment. The equipment, manufactured by BAUER Gruppe GmbH, includes multiple premium Line rotary drilling rigs and Containerized Mixing Systems (CMS).
