The Ellis Property Superfund Site consists of a 36-acre parcel originally used as a dairy farm. A portion of it (4 acres) was used for drum storage and reconditioning. As a result of the operations, the subsurface soil and groundwater became contaminated. Primary COCs include trichloroethylene (TCE).
Sevenson’s SOW included excavation of 7,100 CY of contaminated soil (10–20 ft. BGS); installation of a steel sheet pile wall; and backfilling/site restoration. Crews removed the first 10 ft. of clean soil (all clean material amounted to 12,200 CY) to reach the contaminated soil layer. Clean material was stockpiled/reused as backfill following the removal of 7,100 CY of TCE-impacted soil. Following the conclusion of excavation and backfill activities, Sevenson installed 343 LF of sheet pile to depths ranging from 20-ft. to 25-ft. BGS to reduce the flow of contaminated groundwater into the newly remediated area.
