The HSR and ARC Sites are located on the southeast shore of the Raritan River. For over 30 years, various operations were conducted at the sites, including the manufacturing of epoxy resins, roofing materials, paint pigments, and pharmaceuticals. Poor waste handling practices and the dumping of waste materials resulted in site-wide contamination. Contaminated areas of the river and surrounding marsh were targeted for remedial dredging/excavation. COCs include metals (arsenic and mercury), VOCs, PCBs, and pesticides.

Sevenson’s SOW included hydraulic dredging of 32,500 CY of contaminated sediments; mechanical dredging of 1,005 CY of contaminated sediments; mechanical excavation of 32,024 CY of contaminated marsh soils and sediments; large-scale dewatering of soils/sediments; design, construction and O&M of a 2,000-GPM WWTP (treated and discharged >46M gallons to the Raritan River with no exceedances); water quality monitoring throughout all site work; habitat protection; and site restoration. Sevenson also managed transportation and disposal of material; protected active sanitary force mains during dredging activities; and worked with project stakeholders and local community members. Sevenson received the 2015 State of NJ Department of Labor – Governor’s Citation of Merit Award and the 2017 Governor’s Occupational Safety and Health Award for our successful performance on this Superfund Site
