MAECTITE™ chemical treatment is a process which chemically fixates heavy metals to lower solubility/leachability mineral forms resistant to environmental degradation. Specifically, MAECTITE™ chemically bonds leachable metal species into hardened mineral forms (primarily apatite), producing no volume increase after treatment.
Contamination has been remediated in a variety of matrix types, including gravelly sandy soil, clay, red soils, ash, foundry sand, and sediments or sludges. With over a thousand treatability designs complete, MAECTITE™ has been applied to and has successfully treated nearly all matrices. The process has been utilized at USEPA Superfund sites.
Sevenson first used MAECTITE™ in 1993, and has since treated over three million tons of contaminated material on 320 projects, in 43 states, within 10 USEPA Regions.
MAECTITE™ has been rigorously reviewed by regulatory agencies and has passed multiple performance standards, including:
- USEPA TCLP, SPLP, DI Leach
- ANS 16.1 (modified)
- ASTM column leaching test
